Workshops Overview

This is the range of workshops that I currently offer. They are based upon my own skills and practise as an artist, although I am able to teach any aspect of felt-making, as well as general artistic processes, where there is an emphasis on personal artistic development as well as technical skills. I believe that I am unique in offering one to one pre-workshop image services, so that you can make exactly the image you want in your workshop. There is some flexibility in the length of workshop and the combination of techniques and processes taught. Please contact me if you are interested in taking or hosting a workshop. I offer workshops to groups at all skill levels and I am willing to travel just about anywhere.

Cyanotype Images for Textile Artists

2 - 3 days.

Also known as Blueprint, this process works well as a method of directly creating well-defined images on natural fabrics (including incorporation with felt) using plants, found objects or digital negatives.

Hand felted Limpet Lampshade with silk, paper, gold leaf and print

Illuminated Felted Forms and Light shades

2 - 3 days.

An economical, eco-friendly approach to creating thin felted fabrics with scraps of fabric, felt and yarns, and minimal fibre. I will teach you about incorporating elements to produce different densities and designs to create fully 3D pieces that will fascinate you. The art is in visualisation of the final form and how you will use transparent support for your shade, which can be conventional, up-cycled or freely-formed, to be lit with cool LED bulbs.
