Working with Digital Images in Felt Collage:
Workshop 3 - 6 days.
In this workshop you will learn a variety of techniques for incorporating digital images within a felt collage. We will use photographic processes such as cyanotype, photo-sensitive dyes, as well as discharge of dyed fabrics and heat transfer, which will then become bonded to the felt surface as part of a felted collage, combining nuno and pre-felt techniques. There will be an emphasis on design skills, with consideration given to developing a colour palette, tonal contrast, surface texture, composition and image placement. To follow up on these processes after the workshop, participants will require the use of a computer to process the images, as well as an inkjet printer, which most people have access to. We will work on a small scale with your own photographic images to create samples and progress to a larger piece, if desired and time permits.
