Faces in Felt Workshop
This workshop is for those who would love to learn to create felted portraits of their loved ones or favourite celebrities but who may lack confidence in their own artistic ability. I will help you to realise dramatic, detailed images of faces in felt made with fibres in a natural/monochrome colours or a vibrant colour colour palette. We will be using a tonal separation technique specifically developed by me for felt makers using wet-felting techniques. During the workshop I offer to teach you how to digitally manipulate your photographic images to produce a ‘master’ from which to work. You will be able to work A3 size or larger. Ultimately you could use this technique to create a uniquely personal set of images that could be joined together as a group portrait or framed as gifts for family and friends. Examples of past students work can be seen here. Past students have gone on to exhibit and win awards with this technique. One thing I guarantee is that your work will be admired.
In order to allow participants to use their own images, where possible they will need to supply me with their photos in a digital format in advance.
